This evening I am going to a concert....

It's a Barbershop Choir. Do you like that kind of music?

Yes. Also, my cousin is in a group and they've won many contests.

Never in a million years will I pay to see or listen to that, I did enjoy the little ditty from Malcolm in the middle, though it's not quite barbershop.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oqKVkZTQ80

Ick! Not even close to barbershop. Heard music last night from all eras....30s through to 90s. Fantastic harmony!

Sounded like old, old country western music. We just can't go to concerts together. :)

We won't, unless the time machine takes us back to 1969 Led Zeppelin.

I've enjoyed listening to the Barbershop (quartet) groups on tv.  I'm not sure if I would stay interested enough to listen to an entire concert.   I certainly wouldn't mind attending a concert and I may be the audience member shouting for an encore.  :))

A choir is very different from a quartet. There is such variety and lots of humor. So much humor that the audience was laughing at least, every 10 minutes. Then, some of their songs had the audience in tears, they were so beautiful. Awesome evening of entertainment for all ages!!!

I'm so happy you had such a delightful evening. If I hear of anything like this coming to town, I will make an effort to go and watch them perform.

    It was great!!!

So glad you went and had a good time. Memories and humming without realizing you’re doing it. And the good feeling last for days. I’m going to see John Prine on June 30th. No one seems to know him but I like him. Now, to the barbershop music. Shudder. Before I started my current meds I heard things. Not voices but rather I heard music. Like a radio was playing close to me. Or I hear music I didn’t care for or was familiar with. Barbershop music being the most common occurrence. I don’t care  for it at all. Or I’d hear the blues in a jazzy mode. I don’t care for jazz. In the bathroom the theme song for JEOPARDY would play, stopping only if I left the room.....

I guess your personal circumstances would understandably make you avoid certain music. I am another who does not know John Prine but hope you have a great time!

John Prine is playing in Glasgow in August..https://www.seetickets.com/event/john-prine/kelvingrove-bandstand/1197457...I AM NOT GOING TO SEE HIM.

I love the close 4-part harmony . That's the kind of harmony the Beach Boys and the Beatles used to do on some of their  songs....and the other  pop quartets in the 50s and 60s.- - - like " The Brothers Four",The Four Freshmen, The Mills Bros. the Four Seasons.

My brother used to sing in Barbershop Quartets, when his kids were little. But now he's on to bigger and better things.......like going from state to state to visit his grandchildren.

You live in the town that created this music, great stuff.BTW, have you watched the movie..."DETROIT"?

I like most kinds of music, except heavy heavy rock. I love seeing people perform live.
