I like the idea of bubble wrapping windows too.  I did this in our bathroom last winter.

Common sense except for the humidifier. Put a pan of water on the stove and let it boil. The steam will warm a room and will keep your nose happy. I’m cold whenever I get out of a warm bed. It last as long as it takes to brew a cup of coffee. I’m ok as long as my feet are covered. But not too much!
