I looked at it at times thru a welding helmet. That's the only way to go . That glass is very dark. Anyway, I saw it covering 1/4 of the sun......then covering 1/2 of the sun, but didn't see the 80 % that we were supposed to get. It got a little dusky here, but not as dark as it got in 1959 when I was 10 yrs old. Good practice for when the eclipse comes around again in 2024. I should still be around then if I don't get cancer again, b/c the life expectancy for a woman is now 82. It's 78 for a man.

That said, a crispy Patek 1463 "Tasti Tondi" sold link for $325,000 and link this unique rectangular platinum Patek sold for $57,500. Both of these were standouts in the preview –the 1463 for its link condition and the 439 for its rarity, and it felt like they could've performed even better. As you'll hear in a Hodinkee Radio episode next week, dealer Eric Ku even called the 1463 result a "little disappointing."

I think it's key to understanding our soul. We're at least bicultural maybe tri-cultural with German Swiss and French. link And this means we are different from link a pure Swiss company. German watchmaking is link more engineering-oriented. Swiss watchmaking is more focused on watchmaking or finances. And French watchmaking is probably more design-oriented. We have a bit of all three in our blood.
