My new, used 2013 Ford Focus Hatchback won't start. It is a push button start. The battery is good

There is enough power in the battery. Could the key fob have a low battery in it ? I'm not familiar with a push button start, b/c I've never had one before. Hope I didn't just buy a lemon  :-(

Could be the immobilizer, dealer should be able to fix it.

Glad to have some hope. What's an immobilizer ?

Are you pressing the brake pedal while trying to start? Does the engine turn over well? Try placing the key fob  next to the start button and try again. When our "keyless" Toyota doesn't start (rarely), waiting about an hour solves the problem.

Yes, I'm pressing the brake pedal. Didn't know having the key fob near the push button would help. Thanks for letting me know.

I WOULD SAY THE BATTERY IN THE 'PROXIMITY SWITCH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

    ok. What's a proximity switch ?

How do i explain this, it is a small black thing you have on your key ring, there is no key as such, as long as you have this on you ,you will be able to to push your ignition to start your car, it is another form of key less entry, you can lock or unlock your car without the use of a key by just locking the car by just touching
the handle of the front doors is, that as clear as mud.

    good explanation. Thx
