Not really a writer (as you know), but I do like to keep in touch with people, words aren't everything, a few of them can mean a lot though.

I email with my mom almost every day.

I just received a nice note on a Thx giv Day card from my cousin's daughter. She writes me a note on a  card she sends at every holiday . So, I'm going to send her a newsy note too. I occasionally write a short letter or postcard to my g. friend to moved down by the state line b/c they wanted a house on an inland lake.

I correspond with a college friend in Washington via USPS, and email regularly with an akaQA friend. Facebook is a quick exchange with friends and relatives.

I email my daughter, step-daughter, and sister often. Others on occasion. I learned a long time ago that you never put unfriendly words in writing to anyone you wish to have a relationship with.
