Garlic, give it a try, slice it up and place it on the sore spot and keep it there as long as possible.

Don't go kissing a new love afterwards though, not recommended.

They are awful and girls suffer from them more than boys and there is really very little you can do other than swishing with salt water and using an over-the-counter product ... my girls have suffered badly from these and I personally suspect sugar!! And junk foods like chips and more chips!!  THey are such a nuisance to deal with ... hope you are all better baby....
