      Could they be Sowbugs, aka Pillbug or woodlouses?

        I usually find those pill bugs under the rug on my front porch. When threatened, they curl up in a ball and look like a pill.

          Romos, that was a great link . I looked at all the photos, and I've seen all of them around here . I live in the same state as Clu - - - -Michigan . The photo of the iridescent green one is loosely called " the Asian emerald ash borer beetle" around here and and ruined all our ash trees. The city removed some of the trees and I had to remove the one in my front yard. That was upsetting and expensive.

            I looked on the Internet and there are so many different ones! Maybe put a few in a jar and head to a nursery?
