Shortening the shot clock isn’t link a radical idea. The NBA already seems to sense that it’s a necessary change. In 2018, the league changed its rules to say that if a team grabs an offensive rebound, the shot clock doesn’t reset back to 24 seconds as it did for 62 years. link Instead, it starts from a reduced 14-second mark, in an effort to speed up the game and generate more offense, since teams don’t need the extra time to get link the ball across half-court.
