If you literately want to drive a car, floor shift is the only way to go. :)

    Automatic, No "SHIFT"!

Auto for city driving, on the open road it does'nt really matter auto or manual as the late models have 6- 8 gears for highway driving    ( my wife and i took our car for a run to Melbourne aprox. 800 ks. my wife drove for a while to get a feel for the car, she was passing a car i looked down at the speedo and we were doing 160 ks, i told her it was a bit fast to be passing at least now i know i have the power if needed to pass safely and quickly and it is an Auto- Triptronic.

Kent i took a diesel Renault up to 170 klm an hour on a German Autobarn,,and mate,i was in the slow lane..if you wanted to pass someone you had to be quick or you had someone right up your clacker in a flash..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

I would love to go on the Autobarn, to check out the top speed. :)

I do like the stick but my current car is an auto. Its hard to find a VW TDI in the U.S. with a manual transmission.

    ....automatic

    Both.

After over 50 years of driving every kind of vehicle you could imagine I would hope I could still manage a manual. :)

Stick shift was great for when i was a hoon,,you could wind her out to peak revs before changing,,it was also handy if you had a dicky gear box or clutch,,you could pick your revs without chewing a tooth off your gears,,,also handy having a stick shift for sliding around dirt corners when being chased with a flashing light,,,,however now i am a good boy with a Auto transmission, that does not speed, slide or race anywhere..i just sit there and let the car do all the work...>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

You can always use 1st and 2ed Terry on an auto, and get a punch at the bottom end,,

Yep, and leave your gearbox sitting in the middle of the road Hec.you only have an aluminuim ring gear in auto's..manuals have a solid flywheel.>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

Did not know that will have to watch it in future,,

Or you can have my car, the auto can be a 6 speed manual, of course no clutch to depress. :)

For you guys with an Auto,,when you get her up to 150 klms,,do not put it into (R) for race..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

My New Vw has all 3. 7 Speed auto,7 speed sequential manual & sports mode auto.

    Automatic please.

I can manage a stick shift but not well.  I grind the gears to much and I get stuck on the inclines.  LOL, I borrowed my grandfather's stick shift several years ago and I had to yield to traffic while trying to enter the main loop. It was on an incline and I got stuck. There was also the time I borrowed my grandfather's truck to move furniture to Ft. Worth and blew the engine 3 hours into the trip, but I don't like talking about  it. :(

The first time I drove a standard trans was taking my sister and her friend to town, about 4 miles. There was an old 193? car in the truck yard, so we took that. Two stop signs thwarted our forward movement, so as we approached the friend's house, I slowed down as much as I could and told them to jump out. Last I saw of them, my sister was sprawled in the street...her friend had pushed her out. It took me another hour to get home. :-(

I'm picturing this is my mind and can't help but laugh though I know it wasn't funny at the time.

    6-speed standard transmission

I have an automatic now, just as well, sometimes my right foot doesn't know what my left foot is doing, more  so when I'm  dancing that driving,  fortunately.

I drive an automatic but I really love driving a standard. It's not a good idea to have a standard at my age...ever present possibility of hip/knee surgery, arthritis, etc. <sigh> Must be sensible.

To my mind the questions and contradictions orbiting these link videos are more compelling than the videos themselves. It's disquieting to see how nominally civilized gestures or even just neutral ones a handshake from a stranger people pretending to choose a table in a restaurant the scooter guy "brushing" the mirror and waving to the driver link are not what they seem and how quickly they turn menacing. link It's like a supernatural horror movie when a friendly face turns suddenly demonic.
