Have you ever walked out on a meal?

Did you complain to the management?

Yes, I have, and yes, I did.
    Politely, too.

    Hey!!!!!
    Bob/PKB

    DUCK, not Ducky

Normally I'll eat anything, pay up and never return if I didn't like the restaurant, but one time in the 70s in London I asked the waiter twice to take my overcooked steak back and bring me the medium rare that I ordered, TWICE he brought me the same plate of steak back, after a wee argument where a few profanities were used we got up and left the building, the manager ran out after us shouting that if we didn't pay for all the meals served he would call the police, we faced him up and told him to go ahead and call them because what he was serving in his restaurant should be classed as a criminal offence, needless to say he never called and we went on our way to get a Wimpy burger, YUMMY!

Standing ovation from me to you

Thank you, at the time I was looking over my shoulder (just in case), it was my first year in the Navy, a police complaint was not looked on favourably.

You'd think a serviceman would get the best service and the best meal anywhere he went.

The 70s was a strange decade.
    Bob/PKB

Yes, come to think of it....

    ....no.

No, but I did send a steak back. It was awful, full of gobs of fat and yet overcooked. I received a brand new steak and if was perfect and delicious. In addition, the chef came out from the kitchen, asked how my second steak was and apologized for the first one. Impressive!

I have left a restaurant a couple of times, when no one came to the table after about 10 minutes. (Please...at least acknowledge that I am here!) My complaint to management was almost irrelevant. Never went back.

Once, I ordered my meal, got my drink, and started reading the book I'd brought with me (always have a book with me). After reading for 20 minutes and receiving no further attention (or food), I finished my soda and walked out. Hungry....

Just a quiet reading spot.... <sigh>

After waiting at a Bob Evens for half an hour with not even a glass of water we walked out. Told the lady at the desk the food here wasn't worth that kind of wait.

Not long ago, went Chinese and watched people arriving after us get water, menus and drink orders filled while we were ignored. We left. They didn't care. Small place with good food, but won't go back

Yes I know. the worse part like you said, they don't care
    ROMOS

It's a Chinese thing, they don't care who eats or doesn't, and they don't know about manners in other cultures, putting it simply they don't give a f**k!

Little like Scottsdale in Arizona, in a restaurant there last to be served because they knew we were Aussies, -- the tipping rule, Aussies are generally not accustom to tipping, they put the tip on the bill, we refused to pay it, tipping to me is for service, if there is none, no tipping. :)

    Ditto BM.

I agree, and have started being stingy. The friend I often eat out with is very generous, which makes me look even cheaper. The food needs to be good and the service needs to match. Had to ask for water 3 times the other day, and the "crisp" hash browned potatoes burnt. We'll give them one more chance.

YES and I almost got arrested for it as well ...!

    Bob/PKB

Oh, come now, daren1, don't leave us hanging! Spill the beans.

They should have put you to work there ---washing dishes . LOL

I don't remember walking out on a meal once it had been ordered.

I do remember going to a fancy restaurant in Dallas and while looking at the menu my son who was barely old enough to sit in a high chair began throwing a conniption fit so we apologized to the server, left a tip for the brief encounter with our waiter and made a swift exit.

Four years ago my son and I ended up with a free meal after some sh** service from the Texas Road House. Too long of a list to explain what all happened to us this particular night, but after so many chances for the waitress to make things right and she didn't......

we've got a Texas Road House here too, in Mich. The ribs are good. It was packed on New Years Eve, So we went somewhere else

No, I've never walked out, but not too long ago, my B F  and I were in a restaurant that lately changed hands, and the fish smelled and didn't taste too good and the peas taste like chemicals .And , there were no cucumbers in the salad.   So we told Dave, the waiter, and he said " we're out of them, " but in a little while , he brought us some. Then he brought us a different kind of fish and another order of peas . We don't go there anymore
