When taking a picture using the standard android camera, the picture are being saved automatically, unless you're using a diffrent camera application. Some camera application do not save pictures automatically and after you take a picture you'll have a sign of "save picture" on your screen. Just press that icon and your picture will be saved to the phones gallery.
