        So here's the thing. That escapement has been around since the 1750s the Englishman Thomas Mudge is usually credited with its invention and no escapement link even comes close link to dethroning it in terms of combined ubiquity and reliability. It just works. Real link revolutions in watchmaking quantum leaps that changed precision by an order or orders of magnitude can almost be ticked off on the fingers of one hand to make a feeble pun.
