I’m a chicken and too insecure to confront somebody - what if they’re telling the truth?  No, I’ll just fume about it for a while and get over it. I shouldn’t care, after all…….

No. If I hear that someone was talking about me, I assume they were saying something good.        LOL!!

"Confront" sounds a bit aggressive.  I might start off with, "I heard you said...." and go from there. If the person denies it, I leave it alone.  Otherwise, try to get to the reason for the gossiping.
