walking is a great thing for the brain. also lots of materials on what to eat to keep a healthy brain. check some books at barnes and nobles or a good bookstore.

Play some timed games, Sudoku, chess, for example. Get puzzle books, and try those timed contests you can find as a phone app. Get a set of the 100 addition, subtraction, multiplication, and 90 division facts, make copies, and give yourself 3 minutes to complete one, with no mistakes, decreasing your time as you improve. (My son could do 200 in 3 minutes in 2nd grade). Memory games, like "Concentration" with cards, is also good. Just use a timer to force yourself to work quickly. The more you challenge your brain to "think fast", the faster it will think.
