If you're referring to your comment on this thread, of course it was deleted. It had to be in order for me to fix this pic for Bob. "A LOT of comments"? Where?

I guess I'm a poor moderator in your opinion. Unfortunately, you'll just have to live with it for now. Keep this in mind....it's a volunteer job and I won't be a moderator forever. Then you can take a turn.

As a relative of mine (who couldn't whistle) used to say.....Fitt Foo. :)

LOL...Your question reminds me of my dachshund Nicholas, he turned 16 last week November 12th. WhenWho Let The Dogs Out   played on the radio Nicholas would start howling the moment the song began. I used to sing in front of Nick every day and he didn't howl but as soon as I sang the opening words to the song he started singing right along with me. So cute!

Nick is deaf now so his singing days are over. I would have liked to bring him with me but due to his age and physical condition it was best he stay with my grandfather.

I didn't know dogs could live that long until recently my niece's dog , who was 16, died. I thought they could only reach about 12

I had a Dachsy cross called Ikey.He lived to be 19.

    Great little dog,BTW.

I still miss my dachshund, Ernie, who passed in 1988! He was awesome, too....
Penelope was a terrier/dachshund mix who was white with black and brown spots (like Snoopy). She lived past 17; I cried my heart out when the best way of loving her was to lose her.

MCM , Large dog breeds age much faster than smaller dog breeds this is why a Great Danes life expectancy is less than 10 years and smaller breed dogs like chihuahuas may live 17 years.
Recently I read an article which said dogs should be able to live up to their 20's but they don't live this long mostly because of the commercial brand dog foods we feed to them is slowly killing them early. The dog food manufactures use very clever wording when it comes to the ingredients they put in the dog food. For example most dog food includes ground up road kill scooped up from the highways and streets which may already be rotten and covered in maggots and the poop that is still inside the intestines goes in the mix too. I used to buy Pedigree, Kibble and Bits and Beneful for my pets to eat because I thought they were good brands but I remember being turned off by the smell when I opened a fresh bag because it literally smelled like 'shite' and this was before I knew how it was made. Worse than this is that some dog foods are made with the euthanized animals from the pound so the poison used to kill these animals are present in the dog food and cat food we buy therefore slowly killing our beloved pets.

Bob, I will cry endless tears when Nicholas passes away. It's truly heartbreaking to lose a pet.

    PS
Roy has a neighbor who had a dachshund who lived to be 22 years old. The owners fed the dog only fresh chicken and no dog food.

Human food is getting more and more nasty stuff added to it too! Yuk!

I truly believe the comment I've seen recently that a pet may not be with you for your whole life, but you will probably be with the pet for his/her whole life. Makes one think about the time and love our pets need from us!
