You've just got to have it eh?

I expect you Scots would want to play for it if it were full of Scotch.
The kilts might get in the way though.

Only one wee dram in that wee thing Dave, no big enough for any more mate.
We like BIG trophies, but we never ever win any.

It was nice to see a young team do so well, good result for us for a change.

All of an Inch in height. :)

Well done Poms.Well played. You deserve the ashes that's for sure.Better luck for us next time eh?

Do not care how tight you hang on to it Dave, it will not be in your hands for long,,just give it a good clean while you have it..however we were well beaten by some very good swing bowling,,English conditions are perfect for swing bowling, just as you guys do not like our hard wickets which come of the wicket faster and with more bounce,,the last 3 ashes tests have been won twice by England in England and once by us in Aussie..so with that my friend,i will say "see you in Aussie Dave"..And well done to the Poms..>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

It's not that the Poms played well, Sunny, It's a matter of the Aussies playing badly, there is talik when they arrive home they will be stripped of their citizezenship. lol.

I'm sorely embarrassed to ask, but ashes from whom or what, as reward for swing bowling, which is what....

There may be someone else wondering.  Again, I'm embarrassed not to know.

Don't be embarrassed,Bob. All that fuss over a lousy wooden chess piece. No wonder they talk funny.

Buggy, aren't they...must hear crickets and toads in their sleep

The Ashes are supposedly those from a bail used in the 1882 Test match, at the Oval, the first victory of Aus over England.
Now ask me what is a bail and what is the Oval?
    Bob/PKB

The bails sit atop the wicket, their movement an indication of a broken wicket. The Oval is a playing field dating back to 1825, but looking to have been remodeled :-)
How cricket is played is another issue, but your info spurred interest; thank you, M. de Plume.
