A few years back my then fiancee and I were visiting her relatives in a country home where there were no street lights to give any illumination to the pitch darkness inside the home. I was sleeping in a room with her nephew so when I needed to use the restroom in a multi- bedroom home, I didn't want to turn on the light and awaken him. Finding the bathroom wasn't hard because it had a small night light which produced a light glow. Finding the correct bedroom to return to was a much more difficult task, which taught me to thereafter count the doorways when in a strange (to me) place.

We leave a small light on in the bathroom and the under cupboard lights on in the kitchen. Too dark in the country Our dog is old and senile and can't hear well. We'd step on him!

The plus side of the darkness is how much more of starry night sky is yours to enjoy
either way. i love lights on and off. i do both. my mom said when i was born i stayed awake all night and liked to sleep during the day. i am still kind of like that. but i eventually turn the lights off at night. if i had it my way i would stay up all night and sleep during the day with the lights on. i do that sometimes.
