Being mentally healthy doesn’t just mean that you don’t have a mental health problem.

If you’re in good mental health, you can:

    • Make the most of your potential

    • Cope with life

    • Play a full part in your family, workplace, community and among friends

Some people call mental health ‘emotional health’ or ‘well-being’ and it’s just as important as good physical health.

Mental health is everyone’s business. We all have times when we feel down or stressed or frightened. Most of the time those feelings pass. But sometimes they develop into a more serious problem and that could happen to any one of us.

Everyone is different. You may bounce back from a setback while someone else may feel weighed down by it for a long time.

Your mental health doesn’t always stay the same. It can change as circumstances change and as you move through different stages of your life.

There’s a stigma attached to mental health problems. This means that people feel uncomfortable about them and don’t talk about them much. Many people don’t even feel comfortable talking about their feelings. But it’s healthy to know and say how you’re feeling.

Yes. there still is a stigma attached to mental illness---more in some quarters.. But, it's getting better. People are being more open now about telling others that they had a " nervous breakdown " and others are more accepting about it.

Mental health is an issue too often ignored and taken for granted.  It's about a person's healthy well being. The social norm, the perception of right and wrong. Recognition and acceptance is way to the cure. Mental health is the way the brain works.

Everyone seems to know what mental health is,knowing it and fixing it is the major problem..for most of us,when we have a problem,i think we find it hard to explain a problem,,so when you try to talk to someone about it,,they wind up saying..you'll  be right, just get over it ,,or dont worry about it just move on..believe me it does not work that way...Always nice talking..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<

when the word(s)  Mental Health is used by sociologists or the medical profession, or the insurance companies, it is a euphemism for mental illness.

I used to keep it a big , fat, secret that I'm taking anti-depressants and anti-anxiety pills, till I discovered that everyone else is too.  Ha ha .

It seems that when our country was attacked in 3 places on  9-11-2001, the need for and requests for these drugs went way up.
