Festus wasn't as stupid as he looks. He was Mr. Dillon's right hand man.

    Nice new picture Tommy! :)

Hect, It's funny b/c I was just thinking about Gunsmoke today and wondering why I don't get it anymore on my cable system and wondering if you still get it on yours ? My cable company seems to to have a dalliance of  putting shows on  from the 50s and 60s, then they stop  :-( . I was just enjoying the  Beverly Hillbillies again, when they stopped putting it on the air.........and other shows of that era.  :-(

That Jethro....what a class act. Hahaha!

I Have sky m/c/m,and still get a lot of the oldies,And Celebritie big brother, with a lot of your country men in,

The first programme I watched, on our first TV was Gun law Matt Dillon and his deputy Chester.  Chester had an artificial leg I think, 1959 . After that all the boys in the village had gun holsters , toy guns, cowboy hats , and re enacted the part. During the school holidays we would go off for hours across the fields,  and not come back until we had killed all the outlaws. Those were the days.

Happy days, the police would probably shoot you if you went out with your guns today.
    sunnyB

Yes very true Roy, how times have changed.
    mycatsmom

    I remember those days, too.

I liked to watch westerns and had guns of my own until I was 25.  I suddenly understood that the purpose of guns is to kill or be killed. So I looked for a third option. I did not want to kill anyone and folks without guns and low on cash and treasures are less likely to be shot. Getting out of the way of folks with guns is smarter than a face-off. Those westerns lost their appeal as a result. The spy movies depict folk who kill for some form of secret. Lies were just as hazardous and after considering this problem, I found that abandoning lies and secrets freed my mind to study and understand honesty better. Life is, to me, a path of discovery where honesty and interest gives me all I really like.

I love old westerns, we get them on early on Sunday mornings.

I am sure you could hit his vital organs with your Jim Pikes.

But i do not have a swivel holster for them yet Norm,

Whoa. I liked Gunsmoke. Miss kitty turned out to be lesbian in real life, married a gay council member and they both died of aids here in Austin. Can’t help but think of that when I watch the reruns……..

    sunnyB

Oh dear, I'll never think of Miss Kitty in the same light again.
    mycatsmom

Are you sure ? I never heard that. Glad she died after my dad, b/c he was a big fan of hers, as is Hector
Later edit : Yup, you're right, Jh. She died of aids in 1989 of aids. My dad died in 1985.
One link I just read said it was thought that she got aids from her 4th husband, who was known to be openly bi-sexual. He died of it too. Also , she smoked 3--4 packs of cigarettes per day. She had surgery for oral cancer.

Not me!  I cheat, you'd have a hole in ya before you swiveled your hi-tech holster.  Cheating pays off in these situations.  :)

Its not the done thing, not to face each other at sundown, Vinny,
    sunnyB

Watch yer back Dennis. Your not a descendant of wild Bill Hick Hock are you Vinny, by any chance.
    hector5559

Dont worry sunny.ill have a someone in the longbranch saloon, and the doc's hangout with some lea Enfield Rifles, trained on any Gringos,
    Vinny

Nah, not Wild Bill, I'm descendant of Vito Corleone. And we use Thompson Submachine guns. Much better odds of hitting the target at 10 paces than a British Enfield Bolt Action. :) And we never travel alone to a gunfight! LOL!

BTW: I used to have an old WW2 Enfield, .303 cal. Like getting kicked in the shoulder by a bull elephant.
