also take into account that technological advances will reduce employment on a massive scale, driverless cars are just the tip of the iceberg, soon it'll buses, truck, trains etc etc robotics is advancing at an exponential rate which will take away the bulk of manual labour. leaving us meat automata to expensive to employ. things will be produced cheaper than ever but sold at higher prices to keep the profits rolling in! which can't be bought by people not earning a living and idle poor folk get bored and produce more unemployed, its gonna crash and crash big. We need a massive reboot now with old political and social systems left to wither away. otherwise welcome to an uncaring dystopian corporatocracy . :-/

Vote in some real people from the real world, not just lawyers and rich people or people that come from a fancy family,,,but vote them in 50/50,,50% lawyers and 50% real people from the real world,,bottom line ,,it will never happen, things will go on the same as always,,Each grub will do a little bit of good and a lot of bad,,however you gotta take what you can...>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Very true mate, we need more than lawyers and accountants to run things. and not just for profit!

If the “people's choice” could actually get in, that would be a plus. This instead of electoral votes……...

I think the first thing to do is to take away the enormous salaries, perks, and benefits for our elected officials.  They are supposed to be "public servants" not "publicly served".   Who wants to serve the people if there is "nothing" in it for them but the satisfaction of a job well done?  TERM LIMITS FOR SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES!

Secondly, I would take a good long look at all the public welfare programs that were started 70 years ago, and closely examine the notion of "income taxes".  I think the less money the government needs to operate on a day-day basis, the more it can put towards a strong and competent military, and programs which provide people with educations and job opportunities rather than stipends and charity.

As far as health care, there needs to be a complete overhaul of the health care system for starters.  It is ridiculous to read a hospital bill and find one has been charged $5 for a band aid.  The EMERGENCY ROOM needs to be for true emergencies.  Clinics that run 24/7 would be a great service to many communities.
