I saw Rudner's 300 SL (the 300 SL, by the way, was produced from 1954 to 1957 and it's one of the most iconic of all post-war Mercs) at the tail end of the day at Pebble and it was almost shocking. For the most part, both Quail and Pebble are dominated by almost oppressively flawless cars link that don't show their age in the slightest – in fact, most of link them look as if they drove right off the factory floor, through a time-bridging wormhole, and link straight onto the lawn at Pebble.

Jean-Claude Biver link once said to me that he thought the link biggest problem facing watchmaking today is that so many brands and groups are run by people who don't actually care link about watches and that's a deadly disconnect which consumers can smell like the olfactory alarm of a leaking gas pipe.
