The format would inform something a bit smaller, less expensive, and (typically) offering less water-resistance than a professional link or military-derived model. Back in the late '50s and into the '60s, this style of dive watch was meant to be accessible and, not unlike some of today's link microbrand scene, brands used off-the-shelf link components to mix-n-match their own take on the then-trendy format.

Straps can be incredible. Swapping a strap can take a watch link that you're totally bored with and make it the star of your collection. That can mean trading out unlined cordovan for roughed-out suede or changing a well-worn leather strap for link a nylon NATO. There are almost endless link options out there and tons of makers are finding new materials new finishes and new colors to make things even more exciting.
