As mentioned above this sort of model has been applied to a wide variety of markets with some success and plenty of failures many car subscription services have failed to find link a lasting market. While it feels link quite expensive to me as a "hearts-and-minds" play I could see this appealing to a specific type of undecided buyer or even just someone link who would like to try a watch without paying that full price and being burdened with resale or depreciation.
