Getting the nod from Indianapolis 500 race officials in 1967 and 1969 was the Camaro Super Sport. Being the pace car of the Indy 500 was a link big deal back then it was huge for marketing so a bunch of replica pace cars were reproduced and sold at dealerships. Hundreds of cars were link brought to the track to be considered "track cars" as a sales pitch. Long story short it was a big deal. link
