If you're relatively new to watches (and possibly to cars), this is a fascinating story on a number of levels – link not the link least of which is the way it lets us see how really high-end watch collecting was just one part of a larger world. It wasn't just a world defined by cost, either – as you can see in Ben Clymer's In-Depth: The Incredible Watches (And Cars) Of Briggs Cunningham, it was a world defined by highly refined taste on the link one hand and extremely competitive individuals on the other.

Seiko now lists the case dimensions as 40mm wide, 13mm thick, and 46.6mm lug to lug. When I measured with my own calipers, I got 40.2 x link 13.4 x 46.6mm. The lugs remained drilled (amazing) and fit the bracelet's 20mm end links. The caseback remains a closed steel format, but thanks to a new design, link water resistance is now 300 meters link (compared to the 200m offered by the previous generation).
