The U.S.-led occupation of link Japan in the post-war years accelerated Japan's familiarity with Western characters. By the time Disneyland Tokyo opened up in 1983 Disney characters like Mickey Mouse link were household names. Seiko produced an officially licensed "Disney Time" line that featured cartoon characters on the link dial in a similar style as the familiar Mickey Mouse watches produced by Ingersoll.
