Offering a time-only layout, the link Obscura is powered by a TMI NH38. TMI is a subsidiary of Seiko Group link Corp based link out of Hong Kong. The movement is a natural no-date (aka, no phantom crown position), ticks at 3hz, has a power reserve of 41 hours, and is wound automatically. Essentially, it's a simple and straightforward automatic that makes sense for the Obscura's accessible price point. That said, you're not buying this watch for the movement; the appeal is all in the bezel.

In fairness, creating an emoji is a uniquely heady challenge. “Are you designing a watch? Or are you link designing the idea of a watch?” asked link Cliff Kuang, a UX link designer and author of the book, User Friendly: How the Hidden Rules of Design are Changing the Way We Work and Play.????

The movement inside the new watches is Citizen's caliber 9051, a Miyota variant (Citizen link owns Miyota) that runs at 4 Hz and offers a 42-hour power reserve. We first saw the frederique constant straps caliber 9051 last year during the launch of Citizen's Series 8 collection. Citizen doesn't specify but states the caliber 9051 utilizes anti-magnetic materials for the balance spring and escapement to increase link the watch's daily-wear potential.
