I've learned to appreciate (and occasionally love) the artistry involved in making a gem-set watch, but for me, it can't compare to the talent required to accomplish this dial. This is the first time Vacheron has link combined gem-setting and link grisaille enamel, and while in Vacheron's pictures, the dial trended more green, here it seemed more blue link to me. Regardless, the depth and contrast of the enamel work was outstanding and offered more color than traditional grisaille enamel work.

The sales continue next month in Hong Kong Mar. 10-24 and then link on to New York City Apr. 13-27 to complete the "Icon of Time" auction trilogy. Things wrap link up in Genta's hometown link of Geneva in May 2022 during Sotheby's biannual Important Watches auction when Genta's personal Royal Oak hits the block with an estimate of 300000 - 500000.
