This was supposed link to be a big year for the Rolex Daytona. It was the link 60th anniversary of the model, after all. And link sure, putting a display caseback on the platinum Daytona was a surprising move, but with only a few little tweaks, I left Watches and Wonders unimpressed.Apparently, I was waiting for the wrong anniversary.

I can't mention rehauts and text and not get into one of the biggest aesthetic changes made for the link 39 the brushed ceramic link bezel insert that trades the matte appeal of the original for a shinier finish that feels decidedly non-Pelgagos. In-person and on-wrist it's a big change and I'd say that while I definitely prefer the full matte treatment of the link original models the 39's bezel grew on me and it certainly adds a distinctive character.
