Maybe I'm wrong but I always thought that she was a very unhappy person....after Carson stopped speaking to her and then her husband committed suicide. I thought that was why she enjoyed doing her vicious type of humor. She should have married Don Rickles.            :(

Was she engaged to Don Rickles? After her husband died I never heard of her having a serious relationship with another man.

No. He's been married for decades. I was just referring to the two of them having the same vicious style of (so-called) humor.

That is horrible. Hollywood stars all look the same now....stretched!

I heard her say, " I'd like to have a twin, so I could see how I'd look without plastic surgery " Ha ha

I remember well one of her first routines on Johnny Carson, still plays in my mind……….

No, that would be Ellen DeGeneres. :)

She always seemed vicious and scathing to me, which isn't funny. To offend someone as well-liked and respected as Johnny Carson says volumes about her character.

You should read the book "Johnny Carson" by Henry Bushkin.....a very different slant from someone who worked with him (or tried) for many years. Carson had an extremely large ego!

I'll take your word for it...I prefer Ann Rule, John Grisham, James Patterson for a pleasure read.

I prefer something really deep like Danielle Steele. :)

Used to love those love stories...I know you like crime shows....Ann Rule is an excellent author who writes true crime novels. Worked in the Pacific Northwest. I first read "Small Sacrifices" (after having read an article about the crime in People, back in 1973) and was hooked. "The Stranger Beside Me" is about Ted Bundy, who worked beside her at a suicide prevention phone center.

I think she was featured in a tv series as well, several years ago. I know she wrote very detailed books.

Probably. She is excellent. Hope you have a chance to check her out sometime.

She was funny at times, but I don't think she should have been allowed to make fun of the queen and the royal family the way she did.
