Only if they KNOW where they're going. If Columbus, (although he was Italian) had a passport, he wouldn't have known he was going to America. Heck; he couldn't even find it on a map!
we used to learn all about the civil war in America when i went to school,,,at one stage Aussies new more about the rest of the world than they did about Australia,,and that was before computers turned up....
