when our president is passing all roads around that area are blocked for about 30mins

Who is "our" president? You said you are not an American, where there is a president and much care given to his motorcade safety. Where else do presidents have considerable protection as you have described?

Same here when our queen is around. Mind you she does have a big house to clean, so she needs to get home fairly sharp , to get all her housework done. So I suppose it's the same for Barack, if Michelle has his dinner on , he needs to get home on time.

Tommyh - I bet everybody remembers where they were on this day - I was in my Morris Minor split wind screen 1955 - cannot believe it had a radio but it must have done. Just knew you would like to hear this! And no this is not strange slimjimpopo, like the name - but as sunnyB says happens here with the Queen - she was at Ascot last week arrived with the Duke by horse and carriage - quite impressive - beautiful white horses. I am sure the roads were cleared for them.
