How do chameleon colored paint work?

As I walked past a car I noticed the color was changing in hew and intensity...blues to greens and orange to red to black.

Chameleon paints work by use of a special pearl pigment that separates light into its separate components making each component view able at a certain angle. Therefore if you are standing at one spot and your buddy is standing at the other you can each see dramatically different colors. Depending on the chemical make up of the special pearl pigment the color can be dramatically different or a sleek subtle effect.

All colour is a reflection of light. The paint on that car is made up of millions of microscopic prisms that catch the light at different angles as the car moves. Amazing ain't it?
