    When pulling a boat along a canal which point is better to attach the rope? On the side, the front, or neither?

    I would go for the side,if you attach to the front you will pull it into the bank,i could be wrong , just my opinion,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    Most boats have a drop both sides at the front and the back .

    that's what I was gonna say . I rode on them in S.E. Ohio.

    In the days when horses pulled barges along the canals the rope was fixed at the front, but someone was steering with the rudder.
