The same as found in wasp and hornet spray and then it depends on the brand you buy so read the labels carefully in case you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

The carpenter bees we have here in Northern California are completely black, shaped like a bumble bee but significantly larger in size. They are stingless but can chew through a leather glove quickly. I like to catch them to take fishing and let them buzz in a jar, in the water to attract fish.
