    Have power coming into shed from house, running to light fixture, want to install light switch with power receptacle

    How should I wire the switch and receptacle? The receptacle has power, but the switch will not turn the light on?

      The way it's set up now doesn't sound safe or legal. The power should be running from your breaker box to the shed. Hire an electrician.

        I guess I read opposite of what he meant. I thought it was running from a light fixture in the house and out to the shed.
