A regular webcam will work on skype. If you have a laptop with a built in cam, just use that. Most plug and play webcams (external cams) will say if they are Skype compatible. Anyone will do as long as it has a good name backing it up. (Nothing overly cheap but does not have to be expensive).

good to know that newer lap tops have a web cam....b/c I am going to buy a lap top. My older computer is too out dated.I'll know what to look for now.And good to know that Skype works with regular web cams. thx,colleen.
