I swear the candy coating on M&M’s is getting thicker. What do you think?

After all, sugar is cheaper than chocolate. The coating doesn’t break down as fast as the chocolate disappears.  Am I nuts for thinking this?

Are you being facetious with me?

I think dear means expensive in the U K and in Australia. Like in the Beatles song,When I'm 64. They sing "In the summer we can rent a cottage on the isle of Wight. If it's not too dear "
Wight was my maiden name. There's no R in that name. There is an Isle of Wight off the South coast of England.

OK more expensive.Less chocolate + more candy.

No, you're not nuts. Anytime you want to figure out why business is doing something weird, or unusual, just remember  business doesn't do anything, unless it increase their bottom line.  Follow the money trail.

I've been eating dark choc, minty M and Ms lately , and I noticed they're more rounded, instead of saucer shaped. So, like you said, jh, they're putting in more sugary coating and less chocolate  :-( and maybe more filler in the chocolate, like soy or remnants of flour, or some GMO stuff.

Thank you for backing up my sanity!

Hey,That's what friends are for :-)

The last M&Ms I've eaten were definitely not the smooth, perfectly shaped ones I am accustomed to eating.  In my mouth, I like to crack them in half and scoop out the chocolate, letting it melt, then eating the crunchy coating.  It DOES seem like there is more coating, now that you mention it.  The bulky, asymmetrical coating is the giveaway.  :(

I’ve been noticing it for a while now, even the peanut variety. scoop to the insides? I’m gonna have to try that!

I love the peanut M&Ms most. By eating each part separately, I get three candies in one. YUM YUM YUM
