    26 years on death row. Compensation?

    Glenn Ford just released from prison after new evidence showed he was not guilty of murder.He is a black man and all the jurors on his trial were white. How much compensation should he get?

    He should get million$. How many, I can't say. This is why I'm against the death penalty. Better 1,000,000 "guilty" murderers get life in prison, than one innocent person gets executed.  http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2014/03/after-30-years-on-death-row-an-innocent-man-in-louisiana-is-about-to-go-free/284179/

    Agreed, Clonge. Torys traditionally are hangers and floggers, but the problem is that you can't un-hang and un-flog.

    We abolished the death penalty in Michigan in the later 1800s. We were the first state in the union to do away with it.

    Good for Michigan mcm, but there are 32 states where it still exists.

    No matter whose fault, no matter the victim's skin color, no matter the skin color of the jurors, an innocent person spending years in prison, should certainly be compensated. The amount? How can that be calculated? I would think though, that it should be an amount that will make a person's life very comfortable and last a life time. A million? Two million? Who can say?

    Not particularly the jurors fault if this evidence wasn't there at the time of trial.

    26 years of your life is hard to measure in monetary terms, should be a lot though.

    it was a blatantly racist trial, they kept the jury white on purpose

    OF COURSE, Mr. Ford should receive some compensation.  What Mr. Ford would probably like is his time back, and all the opportunities missed, relationships lost.  How can one possibly calculate those losses, along with punitive damages!

    There is no amount of money that would ever make this mistake "OK".

    It will be thousands and thousands plus he will have the freedom to spend it.  Freedom is quite a reward, and sincere apology issued, a regular place to live, tickets to the latest shows, meals…..I don’t know, what is 26 years worth? I hope he receives some serious counseling……….

    26yrs = $26 Million.

    26 years on death row ? what makes you think he is free .a guilty man after 26 years is not free ,,how much less free is an innocent man,,money only gives the ability to stay invisible..26 years in a very strict lifestyle of survival soon becomes the only way to live..survival inside is different to survival outside..
