Your registered name that you log in with is your real name with a period between the first and last name (example: Jane.Doe) Your user name is the one you created for skype that others see.

i know my id but cannot open skype aftor updating microsoft programmes
Just download Skype again. We've all had to do it when Skype becomes an issue. You can still use your old id.
