      There was too much traffic. Smart chickens avoid traffic.

          because Ozzie Osborn was on the other side of the road. And he used to bite the heads off of chickens on stage.

          I believe it was Alice (or maybe Ozzie) but rumor has it that they thought is was a toy and that’s when they bit the head off……..
