I used beautiful bamboo slat curtains 7 feet wide on the outside of the windows and secured them really well with white sheers inside as light reflectors that also allowed light through which streamed in through the outside slats. It looked good because it was a log house so the two natural materials looked well together. This helped bring down scorching southern exposure temperatures. I also found that having large umbrellas open near the windows and entry helped lessen the heat as well. I also ran a ceiling fan at low speed as the ceilings were very high. I hope this helps. peace

I have my chiller going ,Willian dont like to much heat,
I don't need air conditioning now as our flat is below ground level like a cave and it stays very cool...almost too cool in summer....William is a smart boy...he likes to be coolio ! ;)
