what do you think about leaving a country behind?

It depends on which country you are leaving and where you plan to re-locate. Each country has differences, some differences are better, some worse. I don't think that I would want to move anywhere permanently, but I would definitely see living in another country for a while, as an adventure. It would also be a great learning experience. A person can never learn too much about other cultures.

I think it must be very sad yet exciting. Something new and adventurous from something old and familiar. Good and bad……….

I think I'm lucky that I do not have to think about that. As an American, I would not leave my country behind. The leaders of my country might think about leaving the people behind but those leaders are temporary and can be replaced unlike the leaders of other countries who make life so bad, their people have to flee the country. If the people could just find the strength collectively  to rise up against their government, they would not have to flee. The people outnumber the government no matter which country you speak of.

I wouldn't want to leave my country for good, but I would like to be able to afford a place in the sun , to go and stay for while now and again. That would be nice, dream on.

Many British people leave the UK and settle in other countries, particularly Spain, France, Australia and New Zealand. Some adapt well and have no regrets. Others get very homesick and many return. I think the best way is not to sell your home property, rent it then if you have regrets it is not so bad to return home.

Based on why, for how long, and going where would be my first questions.  If I were younger and had no family to miss, a temporary relocation might be tempting.  I'm too cynical to just pack a bag and hit the road for parts unknown without some security.

Shoot, years ago, we talked about moving from here with our 3 sons.  I told my (now ex) husband "As long as we have a home to go to and YOU have a job to support us when we get there" I would be willing to go (he hadn't worked in years, but I had).

    We stayed here.
