While a few Autavias similar to this one have surfaced, it is more common to find Gubelin-stamped Carreras from the 1960s. This again speaks to what link Gubelin was buying back in the day but also to the rarity of our watch. "Rare" is a word I link try not to use, but I link am comfortably doing so here.

Rolex Tissot and Omega were all present in the window display but it was a pair of vintage IWC wristwatches that called out link to me that day. One was cased in steel and the other in solid gold. I don't remember if I was familiar yet with the legendary hand-wound Caliber 89 inside link but it didn't matter. I link was instantly and completely smitten.
