There was an article in the Fresno Bee on February 2, 2014. The author is Evan Halper of the Tribune Washington Bureau. The article discussed what would happen if a surge of magnetic current that would fry the power grid and wreak havoc on all electronics ALL our electricity would go out. This happens every 150 years and it has been 155 years since the last event. The power could be out for a year or more. This is called The Carrington Event. Question: How would this effect us?
I have not done research but I have the article in front of me. I thought it would be interesting if we brainstormed.

I'm trying to work out how long the electricity grid has been around over there in the big ole USA, surely this might be the first time it "might" happen?
Just saying, could be wrong.

The Carrington Event was a massive solar storm in 1859 which disrupted telegraph transmissions, and had nothing to do with the electricity grid which did not exist at the time. When a similar event happens again as it most certainly will, the effects will be worldwide and devastating.

Of course there was no electricity in 1859! But I do understand what you said. I don't even know if there's any way to prepare for such an event when and/if it occurs.

My daughter said, "Why did you have to tell me that?" (She and her family are as prepared as anyone can be. They're not exactly preppers - but close.)
I'll look at your link.
