well one thing the experts are saying now is to avoid sugar. Reason: it scratches and scars the inside of your arteries. And when your arteries fail, trouble trouble. Eat well and exercise to stay young.

Rots your teeth also and leads to diabetes which is considered a precursor of Alzheimers.

I've been avoiding sugar since last fall when my Dr. said I have diabetes. It's tough when you're a chocoholic and you love ice cream :-(

tabber! I've never heard it said just like that. That's bad news BUT for me it's good news. I am going to try even harder to avoid sugar. I don't want the inside of my arteries scarred or any of the other problems. Ooooph!
The only time I have sugar is when I'm in a store and buy a small sweet. I can't have cookies or anything good around. I'd gobble a pie in one setting. (So would my husband. We're Sweetaholics.
Big thank you. We have crackers and cheese for guests. Animal crackers for the kids.
Good luck, juliana. I know the feeling. I'm scared for my next doctor appointment.

Even if we don't buy pies and cakes most of us still consume a lot of sugar. It's in just about everything. It would be very difficult to totally avoid sugar so I guess moderation is my answer. I don't want a diet of just vegetables ... even carrots have sugar in them! EVERYTHING IN MODERATION, We're all heading toward old age. Even some of us are already there! Whoopie!
