Car battery: It's freezing here in New York (11 degrees F) and my car is outside. I'm not going to move it for 5 days or so.
(We also had a bad snowstorm).I've heard for a long time that it's better to start the car and leave it running for a few minutes than not to do so. Do you think that this does more harm than good?

Put a battery charger on it and set the charger to it's lowest setting. This is a trickle charge. It will keep the cold temps from draining the battery. Or just take the battery out of the car and keep it in the house until you need the car again.

Thanks, but if I don't want to do any of those, would just starting the car like I stated, do more harm than good?
It will not harm it but just a few minutes a day is not going to help keep a charge in the battery. Frigid temps will drain a battery fast. You need to know what the cold weather cranking amps are for that battery. It may be already rated well enough for frigid temps.
