        Be a good friend and you'll likely get a good friend. (Simplistic answer, but kind of true.)  Sorry read question wrong. Thought you said a good friend, not girl friend.  But this answer is sort of true for getting a girlfriend too.  Be kind, be yourself, be interested in the other person, be truthful.
