With Paracetamol - as many medicines - dosed per kg body weight, why dose in age ranges, especially given the complexities of lean body weight, increasing infant weights, yet differences [with age] in processing Paracetamol?
OK, 2 things to start - Australian source doses up to 15mg/ kg, also stating that /kg is definitive - this latter concurs with my Paed. and PICU qualifications and experience altho' we base our dose on 10mg/kg..
2nd - I have seen a low BW adult driven into liver failure by a 'routine' adult dose - again, points to /kg dosing.
So, how does dosing by age ever sound rational?
