Should Congress Give Up Paychecks If There's A Shutdown?

No deal has been made yet to keep the government from shutting down Friday.

If there is a shutdown, should members of Congress give up their $174,000 paychecks?

Congress should give ball all of their paychecks. My grand pa told me if you have not earned it give it back.

How many workers would be asked to stay home. The official estimate: 800,000. That means almost a million Americans won't get a paycheck.

Those workers might be receive back pay at a late date, but only if Congress retroactively authorizes it. In other words, no guarantees.

In a nutshell, agencies will only be allowed to perform operations necessary for the safety of human life and protection of property.

THATS ALL THE COSTITUTION MEANT FOR THEM TO DO IN THE FIRST PLACE IT WOULD BE NICE TO ONLY GET JUNK MAIL 4 DAYS A WEEK IT WOULD BE NICE FOR PEOPLE TO TAKE THEIR GRAND PARENTS TO WAL MART ONCE A WEEK.

NOOO..i think they should all be wearing ski masks, the way their robing america. if the goverment were a private company they all would be behind bars. but of cource that will never happen.while middle america is eating hotdogs their chokeing down our freedoms as well as the constitution

No, they shouldn't get paid. I hope that if there is a shutdown, it lasts long enough for citizens to realize that we do need a functional government cause (as in awareness, protesting, voting) the "party" most responsible for the shutdown to dissolve.

I think that those in the high up government officials should not be paid (wayyyyyyyyy overpaid in my opinion) with our tax dollars. I think they should take a cut in pay or better yet try to live off what a lot of us have to live off of.
